I've always been drawn to portraiture; I feel
that in attempting to capture the light in
someone else we ignite an urge in our own
selves - to connect, understand, be moved. I feel
that by engaging with art in the form of
portraiture we are able to find new ways to
navigate ourselves, and for a moment
become part of someone else's narrative too. I'm interested in drawing people who look like
they have a story to tell. I'm captivated by
strong, weathered faces or characters who
seem lost In thought; I enjoy the idea of
people engaging with these portraits and
finding their own interpretations. For the last 5 years or so I've been pasting
my work directly up onto Melbourne streets
under the moniker Isolde. I love the creative 
freedom and sense of community street
art encourages; I also enjoy the
juxtaposition of merging fine art and
graffiti directly. I hope to create through my work a sense of what binds us together - the light in
all of us.

Translucent is a collection of blendscapes that visualises many of Australia’s most endangered and vulnerable species and their homes. By blending the two images into one. Amrit Murti encourages the onlooker to connect with these creatures and their homes, our homes, the land we both share but seem to
have forgotten.
