Phantom Limbs

Phantom Limbs is an exploration of absence
and the tangible presence of the unseen.
My characters participate in their own rituals and in doing so create a mythos that is informed by my own feelings of anxiety, nostalgia and awe of the unknown. They are the reiterations of my attempts to give weight to the ethereal, to show beauty in mystery, and to construct a narrative from the missing.

Flesh, Bone and Weakness

In the culture of the West there is a strong effort to deny that we as humans go through the same processes of life and death as a bird, an animal, an insect or a plant. Nature reflects our mortality. Death can create space for contemplation; however our cities are crowded, noisy and disconnected from nature. There is no space for silence or contemplation. Enter into the decomposition, amongst the flora and fauna, a process of the natural lifecycle. Allow this space to become an opportunity to reconnect to your own being and existence, and in turn reconnect to nature. |

Tickets

‘Tickets’ is a body of work which, much like
the rest of my practice, observes and documents
my own life. I am re-creating ticket stubs from movies I have seen, gigs I went to, comedy performances I laughed at, art exhibitions I viewed, planes I flew on, etc. I've been collecting tickets for the past ten years as a tangible memento to remember an event I once attended. Through now re-creating these tickets by drawing and painting onto paper and wood, I am further exploring these significant events I experienced and openly showing the very sentimental slight hoarder that I am, be that with great music and film taste!

When I Get Home

When I Get Home, is an exhibition celebrating the humble abode and how this is achieved or created with furniture, possessions, music and food.
As humans, our connectedness to forms of nature through visual and tactile interaction can evoke an increasing sense of happiness in this digital age. Using collage and watercolour, my exhibition illustrates a sense of earthiness and connectedness with the land, despite living in a noisy world of transport and digital communication.
