#TRUMPTANK TO VISIT BACK GALLERY
by Van
“After Trump was elected, one of these paintings was digitally projected onto a building opposite Trump Towers in Chicago. I was inspired to paint more, combining Impressionism, sci-fi and scenes of revolution. I thought Off the Kerb would be a great place to exhibit these for the first time.”
Van is one of Australia’s most politically engaged artists. His street murals, sculpture, and conceptual art have featured in Red Flag, New York Times, CNN, Junkee, Buzzfeed, Overland, The Guardian, VICE and Hyperallergic. His first children’s book with author Maxine Beneba Clarke won the US-based 2019 Boston Globe - Horn Book Award.

ARTIFICIAL SWEETNER
by Oniism
This first solo show explores the contrast between innocent and obscene imagery. I have approached each piece with the intention of ‘curating’ macabre scenarios to become more digestible, even pleasant. Themes such as; erotica, death, decay and gore are juxtaposed with bright and candy-like motifs. |

HYBRID SPACES
by Ysabelle Ruddle
My work depicts a continuity of spatial encounters in and around Melbourne, creating hybrid architectural synchronies and coincidences. ‘Hybrid spaces’ is inspired by one’s surroundings, location, the built environment and the human experience of space. I am interested in the evidence of recognizable traces of the environment; architecture and nature combined, and how figures connect or interact with space. I seek out new energies in the visual composition through subject matter and colour to explore visual dynamics. I am also interested in the physical experience of painting and aim to challenge the boundaries of pictorial space.
