CONCRETE PARADISE
by Conrad Square

Newly relocated Melbourne artist Conrad Square invites spectators to his first official solo exhibition titled ‘Concrete Paradise’. This exciting new body of work showcases a collection of multilayered paintings and illustrations inspired by the sprawling streets of Melbourne, Australia. Square will take you on a journey through the fabric of his imagination as it processes the creative joy that surrounds him every day. Taking letters, numbers, messages, and colour-ways from places he has visited; and things he has seen through his recent journeys. He tells a story of a boy growing up in a small town, starved of any authentic inspiration from his peers and surroundings. These vivid casts of mechanical forms are also vessels to explore his concerns with sociology, homogeneous, and gentrification in the suburbs he now calls “home”.

CONTEMPLATION
by Cathy Yarwood-Mahy

‘Contemplation’ is a series of intimate landscape paintings capturing moments of the sublime in everyday life. Each piece creates a dreamlike emotive interpretation of the world, encouraging reflection. The works are painted in oils which allows for subtle glazes and blending of colours, producing a high level of realism. Light plays a crucial role in creating a transcendent atmosphere in many images while others focus on the delicacy of ice, dew and clouds, inviting the viewer to appreciate the transient beauty of our natural world.

SIDE GALLERY

THIS IS SERIOUS
by Brendan Rowe

'This is serious' is a satirically lighthearted exploration of the self. Playfully contrasting a mix of pop cultural references with anatomical impossibilities, tempting the balance between the rational and the absurd.

TREASURE FRIENDS
by Amelia Jane

In her debut solo exhibition Amelia Jane presents a new collection of acrylic works on canvas featuring botanicals in her graphic-impasto style. The intentional clash of graphic lines and organic shapes parallels our collective desire to curate our inner-city living spaces with botanicals in order to invite nature into our resting places. Treasure Friends celebrates our efforts and offers solace and comfort using calm and inviting colour palettes and shapes. Each piece is a carefully considered treasure, created to bring warmth to a domestic space whilst lovingly tucked into their wooden frames.
