SHADOWS MASQUERADE
by Sooj Mitton

CATALOGUE

Intrigued by the performance and glamour of Kpop, Sooj dives into the inner workings of what it took to create such an energy and hype – to mould these incredibly young and beautiful characters into archetypes – and discovered a truly shadowed masquerade. Control, unobtainable perfection, judgment that led to these archetypes becoming a shadow of who they really are… and ultimately to their demise.

We have all grappled with this archetype throughout life, and many have become the stereotype. Sooj too grapples to step out of the shadows… through her art Sooj hopes to bring life to the archetype in its truest and purist form.

CRYPTOTERRESTRIAL
by Aaron Condon

CATALOGUE

Camouflaged biomorphic characters emerge from their natural surroundings. They are here, living beside us. Inter-dimensional beings, crossing the boundaries of dream, nature and our reality.

Aaron Condon lives and works in the Dandenong ranges on the outskirts of Melbourne. Surrounded by towering gums and beautiful gardens, his connection with the environment and nature is an infinite source of inspiration.

Working with different mediums such as paper-cutting, watercolour and lino printing, Aaron explores our relationship with nature. Working with simplified lines and form to create characters that are from the earth.

ANITYA
by Imogen Rolfe

CATALOGUE

Anitya
अनित्य (Sanskrit for impermanence) has long been of interest to the artist, Imogen Rolfe, and over the last year as we were all thrust out of our comfort zones into the new normal, the concept became ever more relevant.

Nature is the ultimate guide when it comes to impermanence. Seasons come and go, life and death is perpetual in nature as it is constantly evolving and adapting.

These works are a reminder of our ability to change and adapt to our environments and to look outside ourselves for the answers we seek. We humans, just like plants, are forever changing.

A POINT IN TIME
by Sai Chalermsan

CATALOGUE

A Point In Time is a watercolour illustration series built on memories collected at points in time — both in the past and present — people, animals, places and objects. It’s nostalgic and personal.

The series focuses on specific memories related to our natural surroundings. Each memory is unique; some are explicitly recognizable, and some are fragmented.

This work also allows Sai to explore the synchronicity of order and freedom — the juxtaposition of form and fluid through watercolour and marking making.

A simple orbicular shape frames those resonated memories. It invites the audience to take a closer look at those intimate memories.
