FRONT GALLERY THE 5TH DIMENSION “I want people to understand what I have to say. In my own words, in my own voice. My words are my fingers, my hands and my voice is from the physical world. The 5th Dimension wants to bring attention to the deaf world. The world that seems to be lost within the creative community. I want to express my inner-voice, my thoughts and share myself with those that want to learn more about me, my art practice and the deaf community.” Jaycob Campbell, aka Gonketa, is an artist whose use of bold, bright colours and linework is influenced by a range of contemporary styles, including manga, comic books, pop art and street art. Born deaf, Campbell’s first language is Auslan (Australian Sign Language), and as such he continuously explores the complexity of hands, including their shape, form, and use for communication through sign languages and commonly used hand gestures. His work aims to empower the deaf community and raise awareness about the use and intricacy of sign languages. .

BACK GALLERY REBUILT: OLD TO NEW This exhibition brings to life my world of robot sculptures. In this throw-away world, old engineering pieces, tools, instruments and general everyday items from decades ago have thankfully been stored in sheds, workshops and antique stores ready for me to find and repurpose. I match parts with the correct age, style and patina and using welding, machining and special fabrication techniques, totally unique sculptures are created. The joy in building them comes from the search for the correct item until a robot with personality comes alive.

UPSTAIRS GALLERY SMALL WORLD Small World is a series of gouache paintings based on the memories and experiences of the artist, Vincent Chen, and each piece is a unique reflection of his emotions and thoughts of life. They are personal, nostalgic and intimate. Vincent draws inspiration from natural surroundings, urbanscapes and changing seasons. This series allows the artist to explore our relationship between nature and this concrete jungle. A deep fascination with nature is also apparent in his paintings. Vincent's works are often featuring a miniature figure in the scene as a storytelling element. He strives to imbue his audience with a sense of peace and calm through his works.
