NURTURED
by Emily Van Der Molen

CATALOGUE

Gardening is a maternal act.
Our patriarchal society takes a patriarchal approach to our natural world, seeking to own it, control it and exploit it for its own gain without reciprocation.

"Nurtured" explores our collective maternal response, to sow and care for gardens. And the propensity of plants to grow in cracks, leap boundaries and continue to survive and thrive both because of us, and in defiance of us.

CORPORA TERRAE
by Charlotte Ivey

CATALOGUE

How do we navigate the increasingly artificial environment of our day-to-day lives?

Corpora Terrae (Bodies From The Earth) embraces the romantic concept of nature as a model for tranquility. Influenced by the Australian landscape, Ivey approaches land as a living organism, through tones and textures of soil, clay and wood, as well as the reproductive systems of organisms springing beneath our feet.

In hope of illumination, she explores the tension between cultivated control and ancient systems of balance

1980s- ALIVE & REVISED
by Sarah Wilsdon

CATALOGUE

I created a body of work, based on real 1980’s Dolly Magazine cut outs.

The 80s for me is a time of excess, fun and also stereotypes. I hope to highlight the cookie cutter culture of the time in the collage paintings, and then juxtapose that with the film versions of my artwork.

Three acrylic painting collages come to life in videos, and include actors from different cultural backgrounds, to give the 1980s a more modern outlook. Uniquely fun.
