Shini Pararajasingham Founder & Director
Shini Pararajasingham is the Founder and Director of Off the Kerb. Her role is in the strategic direction of the gallery and the creation of a calendar of exhibitions and special artistic projects that contribute to a dynamic independent arts sector in Victoria renowned for innovation, excellence and internationally recognized standards.
One of Shini’s key objectives at Off the Kerb is to provide a number of benevolent programs and projects with the help of government and key organisations to provide significant development opportunities for local artists. Shini’s charitable work supports organizations such as, Signal Hill Sanctuary, Asylum Seeker Resource Centre, Edgar’s Mission, Red Dust, beyondblue, The Lost Dog’s Home, Melbourne City Mission, Whitelion, Edgar’s Mission, Innerspace, Ingrid’s Haven and Clowns Without Borders.
Shini Pararajasingham is regarded highly by her peers and has been invited to be part of panel of judges at the Victorian College of the Arts Proud Awards annually from 2007 - 2010. Shini is a stakeholder in the preservation of the Keith Haring mural on Johnston Street. In 2013 Shini was commissioned by the City of Yarra to engage a street artist to create a new mural for Lennox Street, Richmond as part of the redevelopment of the Victoria Street precinct. In March 2014 Shini was invited by the Ballarat City Council for Space: The Final Frontier where she along with a panel of Melbourne Creative Directors delivered information to the arts community on the establishment and sustainability of a creative space. In June 2014 Shini was invited by the CEO of the Abbotsford Convent to be part of a panel of judges to award two collaborative grants each worth $5000. In 2016 Shini was commissioned by the City of Yarra to engage an artist to create a new mural for the Senior Centre site as part of its redevelopment. Shini Pararajasingham has been a recipient of a number of City of Yarra Grants.
