FRONT GALLERY BETWEEN AND BEYOND Between and Beyond explores links between the body, architecture and the object. It considers the body as the landscape where the architecturally inspired work is sited and connects to its surrounds. Justine Austen and Andrew Weatherill create artwork that explores the relationship between man-made forms and environment. Austen is a contemporary jeweller and Weatherill has trained as a printmaker. Their artworks attempt to push the boundaries of these traditional art practices through the building of interactive installations and virtual environments. |
BACK GALLERY RUN, MILLY. RUN “This study is a sequel of sorts to my previous exhibition. Like the last one, I am depicting animals, though the natural progression of my artistic practice. This has seen me move away from predominantly mechanical shapes to a broader range of diverse objects. Much like the cogs and gears in my previous study, the creatures are formed from these objects.

UPSTAIRS GALLERY
SMALL ACTS OF RESISTANCE The beauty of Tao Lee's dreamy and delicate portraits is juxtaposed by the grim nature of the myths and fairytales that she illustrates. Indeed, the title of her inaugural exhibition refers to the covert methods women in abusive situations deploy to reclaim their personal power. Accordingly, the heroines depicted in this series quietly challenge existing power dynamics. The artist has sought to explore the complex psychological states of these characters as they contemplate seizing some agency for themselves.
