FRONT GALLERY 100 CANDLES GAME Inspired by the ancient Japanese game Hyakumonogatari Kaidenkai or 100 Candles Game. Around a circle of 100 lit candles––amidst a summer chorus of frogs & insects––participants take turns telling a ghost story or supernatural tale, each snuffing a candle upon finishing. When the final candle is extinguished a Yōkai (ghost or spirit) can be seen with the naked eye... A collection of paintings, drawings & sculptures inspired by Japanese folklore and Kaidan (ghost stories) by artist Barek.

BACK GALLERY DESPOTIC FATE “We accept our feelings without further discussion when our duty as free people is to argue vigorously with a despotic fate that has been predetermined, with who knows what malicious intentions. My work depicts a reflection of self. I am confounded by the spectrum of human emotion, particularly the displays of melancholy and furtive ways we choose to communicate these feelings. Through detailed portraits and stylistic natural designs my illustrations aim to capture certain souls in a moment of true feeling or state of mind.” - MTICH |

UPSTAIRS GALLERY
SUBMERGED My work revolves around a re-imagination of the everyday. In the work, "Submerged" I aim to bring some of the undersea creatures to the viewer for them to directly engage with, while examining ideas about our negative impact on the natural environment surrounding us. My process driven, and craft based practice, allows me to obsessively explore and celebrate my own wonder at the natural world.
