SPRING DAYS 2023
GROUP SHOW
Spring Days exhibits a collection of creative responses from Melbourne's finest contemporary artists!
The season of spring symbolizes rebirth, rejuvenation and renewal. In the natural environment, plants begin growth anew after the dormancy of winter.
Animals come out of their winter dormancy and begin their nesting and reproducing activities, and birds migrate pole ward in response to the warmer temperatures.
In the history of art, spring is represented in its effervescence through vibrant colour, passionate emotion and deep symbolism -as in the case of Botticelli’s ‘La Primavera’.
The painting tells the story of spring through the focal point of the goddess Venus surrounded by joyous spirited figures amongst an array of blossoming flowers.
In Philosophy and Literature spring has been referred to love, hope, youth, renewal, and growth. The Nobel Prize-winning poet-diplomat and politician Pablo Neruda echoed these sentiments in his famous comment, “You can cut all the flowers, but you cannot keep spring from coming.”
