FRONT GALLERY TOGETHER SEASON For years my work, and the expectations of it, hinged on wildly divergent styles. But I feel like I’m growing into a new season where different parts of my practice are combining for the first time. The work is still full of contrasting identity and anonymity, sensitivity and brutality, spirit and form — but the desire and perhaps even the ability to control disparate elements has gone. It’s a season where the work comes together.

BACK GALLERY IT’S LOVE As part of a ritualised practice, I hunt for unloved objects that want me. Sometimes they whimper and sometimes they scream, but they all want something. They all have desires and I am obedient to their whims. What emerges is a spectacle of strange beings, embodying a psychological complexity; one monstrous form loving another. “It’s Love” brings together elements reminiscent of childhood rituals of play, domesticity and sensuality, harking to the ancient and the afterlife, to present a curious world that collides with the macabre. In the abandonment of rationality, these things become other things: whimsical and political in their commitment to recognise, create, and possess both the self and the other.

SIDE & UPSTAIRS GALLERIES METAMORPHOSIS: INTERRUPTED Metamorphosis: Interrupted explores one perspective of internal change. It seeks to represent the struggle of sitting in the in-between: trying to move away from the past while existing in a vulnerable, uncertain state to find a pathway to the future. Personally, this body of work is about my interrupted journey of motherhood where I experienced two incomplete pregnancies. The images echo my struggle, my hope, yearning and sense of loss as an individual and as a mother. This project was supported by the
